Awareness reduces danger

Spirit shares I Ching wisdom.

41 – Reduction – Mountain over Lake.

Mountains have height while lakes have depth, and yet
we measure deep and high from our own unique perspective.
That’s curious.

Why?

One mile or kilometre up or down is still the same distance.

It can make all the difference, if you applied the same
measure to progress along the way, any way.

Our life as a way?

Yes, a chosen, more or less, way to live. And, as mountains
and lakes, the ground beneath is rarely even. It dips and
climbs in irregular intervals and to irregular degrees.

But, in a boat on top of the lake?

I think you know from personal experience how an ocean
surface can become dangerously unpredictable.

Yes, terrifyingly so.

So it is with mountains. There is always a risk of uncertainty.
Landslides, mudslides rock slides, and avalanches, to name
a few possible dangers that may present themselves with little
or no warning.

You’re going to relate all this talk to Reduction. How?

Knowing possible risks and still choosing to follow a path,
any path through life, is only foolish if you do not first
prepare for whatever you might have to face along the way.

How can I know?

What?

How to possibly prepare for what has not yet happened?

Awareness.

Of what?

Awareness of your own strengths and weaknesses, based on …

Study and experience?

Yes, and that awareness will reduce the potential dangers
along the way of life.

Reduction without sacrificing

Spirit shares I Ching wisdom

41 – Reduction – Mountain over Lake

How is that possible?

Mountains rise up out of water or earth.
They do things like that.

Also, mountains are by nature, above
their surroundings, except for
mountains higher than themselves.

Reduction is the process of making
something less. It takes a superior
person to reduce whatever is under
her or his control.

Intentional downsizing?

Yes. Following a path of simplicity
does not require sacrificing personal
quality of life.

Spirit’s I Ching – 24 – Return

A spirit teacher shares His understanding of timeless wisdom

contained within the I Ching hexagram 24 – Return.

Earth is above and Thunder is below.

How is that possible?

Thunder can refer to earth-shattering noise; heard or not.

Emotions or thoughts?

Yes.

Does return suggest going back to an earlier way of life?

We can never return. The clutter we have created is from

an earlier lifestyle. Now, we must let go and move forward.

Stripping away is removing that which in unnecessary

and no longer serves us well.

.Excesses in our life usually develop gradually and are

best removed in that same manner, but with intent to

improve the quality of our life, not merely to reduce quantity.

Stripping away can be seen as intent to return to a state of

Balance that has lost sense of its goal.

The message?

It may be time to listen to our personal sense of comfort and

need. We each have physical, intellectual, emotional, and

spiritual needs that harmonize with each other, or they do not.

Harmony of our unique blend of energies is life-promoting.

disharmony is unhealthy.

Today’s I Ching – 41 – Reduction

Today’s I Ching reading by Spirit.

Reduction follows Solution.

Spirit explains:

Solution expresses an ending of struggle. There is a way out.

A light turns on. A puzzle has been solved. Finding a solution

reduces built-up stress, at least temporarily.

Why only temporarily?

Struggle is necessary for growth and strengthens self-confidence.

How?

We learn through experience that we can find a solution to

Whatever challenges Life presents us with.

Is it a game?

Yes, and the game is a gift of Life.

I Ching 41 – Reduction

Today’s I Ching – 41 – Reduction

Mountain above. Lake below.

Reduction follows Solution.

Spirit explains:

Solution suggests successful resolution of a challenge.

Reduction is less, and less of anything requires

That there be more of something else.

Less stress and more rest?

No.

Then what?

Less creation of stress allows for more focus on

Our way of life.

I Ching 41 – Reduction

Today’s I Ching – 41 – Reduction

Mountain above. Lake below.

Reduction follows Solution.

Spirit explains:

Solution suggests success in solving problems or

A particular problem. Reduction expresses the

Potential or real cost, perhaps to others.

The Mountain is above the lake it has

Risen out of, perhaps forgetting that

It owes its life to what is now

Beneath it. Mountains have been

Known to sink back into the water

They pulled themselves out of.

The message?

Prosperity at the expense of others

Or of the environment,

May not last.

You and I?

Not you and I.

I Ching 42 – Increase

Today’s I Ching – 42 – Increase

Wind above (first daughter)

Thunder below (first son)

To me it looks like a sibling war.

Increase follows Reduction in the order of the Hexagrams.

Spirit explains:

Oh, oh. Spirit seems aware of my thoughts. What thoughts? The cynical notion, idea that, perhaps, if   what you have has been reduced enough then the only way to go is up. Spirit seems to think that frugality and simplicity are sacred ways of living, even in the physical world. I disagree.

Now, to the reading.

Spirit is not impressed with my, perhaps, less than respectful observation, and tells me that there will be no reading.

A power trip?

Yes.
